Mumbo Jumbo

The journey to now-here.

I try to read an hour or so a day. As I’m reading I will write down a sentence or two of what I just read. My plan is to reread the words at a later date. Sometimes I do. But, mostly I don’t, because I’m too lazy to sort through the hundreds of pages of sentences I have saved with the date I wrote them and a key word description. It’s like a scrambled cliff notes version of many different books!

Here’s my list of sentences from last week…

Am I at ease at this moment?

What’s going on inside me at this moment?

See in what way you are avoiding, resisting, or denying life—by denying the Now.

Primary reality is within, secondary reality is without.

Gratitude for the present moment and the fullness of life Now is true prosperity.

When you catch yourself slipping into waiting…snap out of it. Come into the present moment. Just be, and enjoy being. If you are present, there is never any need for you to wait for anything.

The moment judgment stops through acceptance of what is, you are free of the mind.

To offer no resistance to life is to be in a state of grace, ease, and lightness. The state is then no longer dependent upon things being in a certain way, good or bad.

Compassion is the awareness of a deep bond between yourself and all creatures.

To surrender is to accept the present moment unconditionally and without reservation. It is to relinquish inner resistance to what is. Resistance is the mind. Continue to practice surrender by refraining from labeling the Now.

Start by acknowledging that there is resistance. Be there when it happens, when resistance arises. By witnessing the resistance, you will see that it serves no purpose. By focusing all your attention on the Now, the unconscious resistance is made conscious, and that is the end of it.

Meditation stems from the truth that who you really are is more than who you think you are. The more you desire to know who you truly are and why you are here on earth, the more you are drawn to that truth. The journey to nowhere (now-here)… Hmm.

  1. DW.. Love the line about “When you catch yourself slipping into waiting… snap out of it. Come into the present moment. Just be, and enjoy being. If you are present, there is never any need for you to wait for anything. I was chopping wood last night & was taking a breather for a bit to just enjoying the light snowfall & the view of the lake when this line popped into my head again. I stopped & took a few deep breaths to just enjoy the moment. my mind was free, I was present in the moment. mother nature has a mysterious way of making me stop to enjoy the finer things in life, just taking a moment to smell the wood & watch the flock of Canadian geese flying over along with bald eagles cruising the shore line, the snow falling etc… my escape for a moment in time
